Bowen Therapy for Horses
Bowen Therapy involves a series of gentle, non-invasive connective tissue manipulations applied to key points on the horse's body. It is an effective hands-on technique that addresses the whole Central Nervous System, Muscular and Skeletal promoting healing, pain relief and energy rebalancing.
"Bowen Therapy" is a primary contact therapy used to treat and/or prevent injury or disorder and/or to maintain the optimum level of health of the recipient. This is done through the physical application of a series of cross-fiber movements on the soft tissue of muscle. Bowen can be applied to any soft tissue of the body for both acute and chronic problems.
The Bowen Technique is accredited by The Bowen Association affiliated by the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia.
Holistic Therapy for Horse and Rider
Bowen Therapy allows the horse to perform his best for his rider. Also, by addressing any muscular stiffness in the rider with the Bowen Technique, the horse will appreciate a balanced weight on his back! Bowen Therapists will treat the complete body, horse or human, and not a specific disease.
Does your horse or you have a problem?
Many problems can be categorised within the breed or conformation of the horse and the particular work, sport or activity that we humans decide to open them to.
The active horse is under continual stress, emotional as well as physical . Horse behaviour can be greatly affected by pain and discomfort, making the horse argumentative, agitated or just tense, unable or unwilling to perform.
Other than obvious injuries, a dominant influence in a performance horse being unable to work in harmony with a rider is the rider. Should the rider be out of balance then difficulties arise for the horse to achieve its own balance. In addressing any concerns in a performance horse the physical balance of the rider needs consideration.
In all these areas as well as in all musculoskeletal injuries, e.g. Bruises, sore stifles, bowed tendons, splint, sore backs/necks, hocks and feet, stiff joints, sluggish movement or nervousness, The Bowen Technique for Horses is suitable to treat the work horse as well as the young foals to the aged, pregnant mares & stallions.
